Brattleboro Lodge #1499 Illuminates the Lodge in RED lights

Brattleboro Lodge #1499 Illuminated the Lodge in RED lights the last 10 days of the month of October to bring attention to Red Ribbon Week for Drug Awareness.  On Halloween at our Trunk-&-Treat we distributed 60 Elks Drug Awareness bags with the Elks DAP Trailer to Children & Parents.
In Addition:  The Annual Children’s Halloween Party was well attended by 70 Children and their parents on Sat Oct 26, 2024.

BRATTLEBORO LODGE #1499 DRUG AWARENESS NEWS

Brattleboro Lodge #1499 had a great location for our Drug Awareness Trailer at the Harris Hill Ski Jump on Saturday Feb 17, 2024. .  Elroy the Elk greeted visitors and had their pictures taken with him and got great goodie bags!   This yearly event  has the Olympic-size, 90-meter hill and draws competitors from all over the world.  It also featured Friday evening ski jumping from the newly installed lights donated by the Brattleboro Elks.

Brattleboro Elks Brings Drug Awareness Trailer To Ski Jump Event

Brattleboro Elks had Vermont Elks Drug Awareness Prevention Trailer at the Harris Hill Ski Jump during February Break. It was a beautiful sunny day to be outside. Handed out 85 goody bags to kids, and Lodge pins to adults. Also, had an unexpected visit from Vermont Governor Phil Scott (his first time at the jump) and presented him with our Lodge pin with the photo of Harris Hill.

SPRINGFIELD ELKS LODGE 1560 DRUG AWARENESS POSTER CONTEST

Springfield Elks Lodge recently held a Drug Awareness poster contest among students at Union Street School.  The first place winners at Union Street School’s were entered in the Vt. Elks Drug Awareness contest.  Awards were present by Jim Kirkwood, drug awareness chairman for the Lodge and is also the Vt. Elks State President for Elk year 2022/2023.   He was inducted at the recent Vt. Elks state convention in Saratoga Springs, NY., on May 14th.
 
      Abe Allen of Union Street School was the first place winner at the state level he won cash and a new bicycle for his efforts.  Locally, Berlin Tucker also won 1st place at Union Street School.  2nd place winners were Annalise Mitchell and Elijah Ingram.  3rd place winners were Arianna Corliss and Trey Slicker.
 
     The amazing thing about this years presentation, was that several students asked Mr. Kirkwood questions related to smoking and drugs being used that are just wrong to do.  These students really listened to Mr. Kirkwood’s opening remarks and asked great questions.

SPRINGFIELD ELKS LODGE 1560 DRUG AWARENESS AWARDS AT UNION STREET SCHOOL

 Springfield Elks Lodge annually holds a Drug Awareness essay contest for all 5th graders at Union Street School.  This years theme/subject was titled, “Drug Abuse No Excuse”.  Elks Drug Awareness chairman Jim Kirkwood awarded six prizes to the following students.
 
Third place winners were, Camryn Jarvis and Carmen Cawvey who received a prize of $10 each.  2nd place winners were Brielle Pelletier and Austin Payton were awarded $15 each.  1st place was Logan Merrow and Madison Streeter who received a 20″ Mountain Bike and $25 each.

SPRINGFIELD ELKS LODGE 1560 DRUG AWARENESS POSTER CONTEST

  Springfield Elks Lodge held their annual Drug Awareness Poster Contest awards ceremony at Union St. School in Springfield.  Drug Awareness chairman Jim Kirkwood of Springfield Elks Lodge  remarked that quality of the posters entered was exceptional.  That made the judging that much harder to come up with the six top winners.
 
    1st place winner for the girls was Erlianyss Aviles, 2nd place Allison Messer and 3rd place went to Paige Austin.  The boys 1st place winner was Ryan Gould followed by 2nd place of Nicholas Burlew and Zachary Pickielnok was a 3rd place winner.  Miss Aviles was awarded a new bicycle with a helmut and an additional prize of $50 for her top 1st place finish.  Ryan Gould also received a $50 prize for 1st place for boys.  Second place winners were awarded $15 and each 3rd place winner received $10.

Springfield Elks Lodge 1560 recently held their annual Drug Awareness poster contest.

 Springfield Elks Lodge 1560 recently held their annual Drug Awareness poster contest with the theme being, “Hero’s”.  All third, fourth and fifth grade students at Union Street School participated.
 
                        First place winner for girls was, Ella Sophia Shaw a fifth grader.  For boys, it was Alexander Moye a fifth grader.  2nd place for girls was Hollee Martinez a fifth grader and Kaleb Smith a fourth grader.  3rd place for girls was Adrianna Magoon.   The overall first place winner, Ella Sophia Shaw received a check for $25 and a new bike and helmut.  The next prizes were for 1st place $25, 2nd place $15 and 3rd place $10. 
 
                       Elks Drug Awareness Chairman Jim Kirkwood noted that this year’s theme, “Hero’s”, meant, they, the students, he classified as hero’s especially if they are looking out for their fellow students.  He noted before saying that, we all regard service people, fireman, policemen, doctor’s etc., are all Hero’s.

Vermont Mountaineers Fans

Vermont Mountaineers Fans Isaiah, Amelia and Sam, all from Barre, Vermont take a break  to visit with Barre Elks Lodge 1535 at the Vermont Mountaineers game on July 24th.   

Kids attending the game were given a Drug Awareness bag with information, coloring book, pencil and candy!    In addition to advocating  “Be Smart – Don’t Start” members of Barre Elks sold 50/50 tickets, with proceeds benefiting Silver Towers Camp.
