Springfield Elks Lodge news release

Karen Whitney of Springfield Elks Lodge is shown presenting a $500 check to Trevor McCants at the VA Hospital recently.  Ms’ Whitney applied for a Freedom Grant through Elks National and the beneficiary was the VA.  Mr. McCants is the acting Associate Director for the VA.

Champney Family Benefit hosted by Vermont Elks

Elks Care, Elks Share Benefit.  Under the leadership of Past State President and First Lady Scott and Kelly Phillips, Newport Elks Lodge hosted a benefit for the Champney Family who lost their home in a fire.  Elks from Brattleboro, Bennington, Windsor, Rutland, Montpelier, Barre, St. Albans, St Johnsbury and Newport attended and ‘pitched in’ as volunteers.    The days activities included a Chicken BBQ, Silent Auction, Music and friendship.

SPRINGFIELD ELKS HONOR EXALTED RULER FOR 2021/2022

   The Springfield Elks Lodge 1560 recently recognized their Exalted Ruler Carolee Murchie for her service to the Lodge during Elk year 2021/2022.  Carolee is the second lady member to serve in the Lodges highest office.   A presentation was made to Ms’ Murchie for her year as Exalted Ruler.

SPRINGFIELD ELKS LODGE 1560 CELEBRATES FLAG DAY

Annually, Springfield Elks Lodge 1560 and all Elks Lodges throughout the country celebrate Flag Day on the second Sunday in June.  At this year’s celebration the Lodge awarded Trenten Fletcher of Boy Scout Troop 252 in Springfield with a plaque for his achievement of becoming an Eagle Scout
 
     Trenton began his scouting career in 2012 as a member of Cub Scout Pack 258.  As a member Boy Scout Troop 252, Trenton held the following leadership positions: Den Chief, Patrol Leader and Scribe. Trenton was voted in as a member of the order of the Arrow.  His Eagle Scout project was refurbishing the Saxton’s River baseball area.  Trenton is actively involved in sports and is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys fishing and hunting.  His parent are, William :Scottie” Fletcher  and Samantha Fletcher from Bellows Falls, Vt.  
 
     This years ceremony was attended by an audience of Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and most parents of kids participating.  The Elks officers put on a Flag Day ritual consisting of seven officers and Vt. Elks State President Jim Kirkwood.  The ritual given was the “History of the American Flag”.  Also participating was the Union St. School Color Guards and their families.   All the Scouts were from Boy Scout Troop 252 and Cub Scout Pack 258 of Springfield, Vt.  
 
     At the end of the ceremony, the Scouts and parents were treated to a barbecue of Hot Dogs and Hamburgers by the Elks Lodge..
