Recently, Springfield Elks Lodge 1560, presented the Springfield Senior Center with an Elks Gratitude Grant for the sum of $1500 to purchase new Lounge furniture at the center. Executive Director Lori Johnson informed the Elks the furniture they now have is 30 years plus old.
As a community involvement, the Elks have several grants they can apply for through the Elks National Foundation. Springfield Elks has been applying for these Elks Grants for years and in turn they give to community establishments who need help. Elks motto. A year ago, the Springfield Elks presented the Senior Center with grant money to buy exercise chairs, weights and Yoga instructer pads for the floor. This year the Springfield Elks also presented the SHS Track Team with Gratitude Grant money to help their fundraiser to buy timing clocks, to be used in a number of ways for the Track and Cross Country teams and local road races like the Dam Run.
These Elks Grants really show the community how much the Elks live up to their Motto, “Elks Care, Elks Share”. The Elks encourage all community members, if you have a cause that the Elks can help with, please, notify secretary Mike Gunn and get on his list for next years Gratitude Grant or other Grants for their help.
